Children's Day Celebration 2022

Every year Children's Day is celebrated in the Maldives on the tenth of May. The aim of celebrating Children's Day is to promote internal togetherness, raise awareness among the children and improve children's welfare. This year the activities of Children's Day in our school followed a Hawaiian theme.

Children's Day was celebrated with a range of activities over the course of three days which began on Sunday. The first day of celebration which also marked the opening day after the Eid break was splendid. A welcome gift was given to all the students of our school courtesy of the PTA. The PTA members despite getting short notice had gone above and beyond in making the day special for the children.

On the second day of the celebration, a sports festival was organized for the children. The students took part in various outdoor games.

Girls from grades five to nine had a netball tournament and the boys from grades three to nine has a football tournament. The day was filled with joy, the spirit of winning, motivation, laughter, and a whole lot of fun.

On the last day of the celebration, the students were welcomed with a garland and gathered on the school premises for a special assembly. In the assembly, the Principal wished the children and spoke about the importance of the children staying protected as they are the assets of the country.

He also stressed the importance of paying heed to their elders when they instruct them to do something. This was followed by special entertaining performances from the teachers and parents. As a cherry on top, the Women's Development Committee of Addu along with the City Council of Addu gave special gifts to the students.

This continued with a party in the classrooms where the students had a special brunch. The day ended with a photo session and another goody bag filled with treats for all the children.

John F. Kennedy once said, 'Children are the world's most valuable resource and they are the best hope for the future.' So, here is to the children of our school and all the children of the world, wishing them all the best things, happiness, success, and prosperity. Wishing all the children a very happy children's day.
