During the holy month of Ramadan, Maradhoo School hosted a program called Majalis Ramadan. The program's major goal was to encourage a stronger sense of affection for Islam.This article mainly highlights the competitions which took place, how the participants benefited from them and the closing ceremonies.
To begin with, it was a competition between the houses. The Holy Quran recitation, Madhaha(poetry in honour of the Holy Prophet Muhammad) recitation, and PowerPoint presentation concerning various topics related to Islam, were among the competitions. The Holy Quran recitation and Madhaha recitation were open to students of all grades and they were individual competitions.
The PowerPoint presentation competition(Dheenee Vaahaka Dhehkumuge Mubaaraai) on the other hand were open to students in grades 8 and 9 only. And each group was given a different topic to prepare and present.
Parents and teachers were also given the opportunity to compete in the Madhaha recitation competition. Even though the Majaalis Ramadan competitions are not new to the students, it was the first time that parents and teachers were invited to participate. This made this year's Majaalis Ramadan program more remarkable. It was incredible to witness the program helping the entire school. It was also a fantastic method for students to put their Islamic beliefs into practice at school, especially during the month of Ramadan.
The closing ceremonies were held in separate events. In the first event the students from Foundation stage and Keystage 1 were felicitated. This followed the felicitation of Keystage 2 students in the second event. Finally, the students from Keystage 3 and 4 along with Parents and Teachers were awarded.
