World Environment Day 2022

Every year the fifth of June is celebrated by millions of people across the world as World Environment Day. This year’s theme is “Only One Earth” with the focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”. World Environment Day 2022 is the biggest international day for the environment led by the United Nations Environment Programme and held annually. And it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach.

Climate change, nature, and biodiversity loss, pollution, and waste are evidence that the Earth is growing more ominous every day. The way out of this dilemma is to transform our economies and societies to make them inclusive, fair, and more connected with nature. We must shift from harming the planet to healing it. 'Only One Earth' calls for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet.

This year to celebrate this day the Fini club organized activities to spread awareness and to get educated on the environmental issues facing the world. A drawing competition was held for students from the foundation stage to Grade 7. Grade 8 and 9 students had a group competition where they had to present an informative seminar on different environmental issues. Various events promoting the day, such as tree planting, were also carried out.

It is necessary that all of us, as beings living on this planet, understand the need to be aware of our surroundings and make ways to protect them in every possible way. So let us flock together and do our share to make our environment and life on this planet as beautiful as it deserves to be.
