Traffic Monitors Training Program 2022

Last month, a special team from the Road Awareness and Prevention Department and the Addu City Police conducted a 'Traffic Monitors Training Program' in our school. The program began on August 20 and concluded on August 26. The students from Grades 6 to 9 participated in this program.

On the first day of the program, the students were asked why they wanted to join and participate in this program, Some students replied that they wanted to make Addu City a better place whereas the others said that they wanted fewer accidents to happen in the city.

A session with the parents on the awareness of road safety was also conducted as part of this program. This was followed by a practical session where students were educated on how to travel in a bus and the precautions that they should take while around or on a bus. Several other sessions were also conducted as part of this program.

The next session as part of the program was the most anticipated by the students. It was the self-defence session. In this session, the students were trained on how to defend themselves when attacked. It was a really fun session where students got to try out the defence practically.

The program finally concluded with the inauguration and induction ceremony of the traffic monitors. Now, every day the traffic monitors of our school look after the traffic surrounding our school. There are way fewer accidents and people drive carefully as well. All in all, this event was a success and it helped a lot of students understand the basics of traffic monitoring and control.

We are very thankful to the team from the
Road Awareness and Prevention Department, the Addu City Police, and the MTCC for their involvement and contribution in creating awareness and training the students.
