Maradhoo School Rocks Addu City with "Thurravaas"

International Disability Day, or the International Day of People with Disabilities, is a 
day that has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The aim of International Disability Day is to encourage a better understanding of people affected by a disability, together with helping to make people more aware of the rights, dignity, and welfare of disabled people. The theme for IDPwD 2022 is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world.

Inaugurated by Addu Mayor, Mr. Ali Nizar, on 3 rd of December, Maradhoo school initiated and hosted a family evening to mark International Day of People with Disability with participation from various organizations and institutions in Addu city.

The main aim of this event is to make the public aware of the rights and how society can contribute to the welfare of disabled people. Another aim of the event is to make society aware of the numerous paralympic games. In addition to these, three new games; Sitting Volleyball, Goalball, and Boshiya were also introduced. 

There were 16 stalls combined from different organizations and institutions. While AIMS gave opportunities to get medical checkups, AEH shared information on the different therapies available for people with disabilities. 

Moreover, visitors were also given information on how to get government aid for disabled persons, play games, take pictures and canteens with a variety of food. Maradoo school would like to extend gratitude to Feydhoo school, Hithadhoo school, Nooraanee school, Sharafuddin school, MNDF, Police, HRCM, Maradhoo Office, Addu City Council, Ministry of Gender and Family, Equatorial Fishing Club, MNU Hithadhoo Campus, MHC, AEH, AIMS, PTA and sponsors. Thank you for your unwavering support and contribution in making the event a huge success.
