The Journey of a Cadet

Joining the army has been a lifelong dream. Ever since I was around 5 years old, I have always wanted to be in the MNDF. And I think I am working towards fulfilling this dream of mine a little by little. The first little step that I took towards achieving this dream was by joining the cadet.

In 2014, I got an opportunity to join cadet and I was very interested in it. From that day onwards I can proudly say that I have been a loyal cadet. And now it is almost unbelievable that I am the cadet leader. Though it looks like sunshine and roses, it has been a lot of hard work and a lot of effort that has made me reach here. Believe me it has been tough.

It has been six years now that I am in the cadet and I have experienced a lot of things. When I joined cadet there were many theory classes and less practical classes. For me that was really boring but when I was in grade four they started taking more practical classes. There were a lot of physical tests and activities. I had to even compete against my friends. In the spirit of competition I did not bother whom I was competing with.

I always try to win and do my best in everything. I got my mom's support but my dad was against this. Now that I think of it, he might have had his own reasons. I did not quit till I achieved what I want. In grade five, I got selected for colour party. For me it was a big opportunity to achieve my goal and enhance my skills. Day by day I was getting better and better. I got opportunities to participate in camps and parades. And I accepted and did them with the most happiness and with full spirit.

I always asked my mom about what is right and wrong because I know she will decide the best for me. I get really good compliments and that gives me more support. I try not to give up in anything, if I do I will not achieve anything in my life. Being in this position isn't that easy one has to face many obstacles but I am ready for the challenges that are going to come. I'm very thankful for all the teachers who helped me through this journey.

Hope is everything, believe in yourself. You can achieve your goal if you try and I'm sure about it. Sky is the limit and just go for it.
