World Food Day 2020

Every year World Food Day is celebrated with a specific theme that draws attention to hunger issues. It is celebrated on 16 of October annually world wide honouring the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The objective is to create awareness about the existing problems of obesity and malnutrition due to hunger. This years #WorldFoodDay marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of FAO (Food and Agricultural Organisation) with a perspective to look at the future that we need to build together.
The theme this year was, “Grow, nourish, sustain. Together. Our actions are our future.”
World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackle global hunger. These events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and also for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diet for all. The focus of the day is that food is a basic and fundamental human right.
At Maradhoo School, students of Grade 6, held a show in which they described about the importance of World Food Day and the importance of food in itself. Students had used a visual representation of a food component that they spoke about.
