Five Changes at School Due to COVID-19

The outbreak of the coronavirus has forced schools to abandon their traditional ways of teaching. This brought up a change in our life that we now call the 'new normal'. So let’s look at the top five changes at school due to COVID-19.

5. Temperature checks Fever is a symptom of coronavirus. due to which, before we enter the school premises everyone's temperature is checked mandatorily. This measure is taken to prevent coronavirus from spreading through the school. Even a common symptom of cold cannot be taken lightly since we are unaware of the reason and that would be putting an unnecessary risk on students, teachers and school staff. So regardless of the reason, one will not be able to attend school with high temperature.

4.Shortened study sessions
Study sessions have been shortened as to accommodate social distancing rules. Schools finish earlier due to this pandemic. Shortened study sessions are a great trouble to teachers, I believe, as they have to struggle with cramming the huge curriculums into the short time that they have been allocated with. Although I must say, they are doing quite a good job. Well done teachers!

3.Online classes
Due to the pandemic, online classes have been introduced. This is to combat the shortened study sessions and to study without having to take physical classes at school. Though online classes might not be as interactive as physical classes they allow a good change of pace. The tablets given by the school came in really handy for this change, but we must keep in mind to use them productively.
2. Wearing masks Wearing masks when we go to school is essential. Masks being worn by everyone is crucial to stay safe during this time. Wearing masks prevents the chances of getting the virus by a significant amount but it doesn’t totally protect you. So we still have to be very cautious.

1. Social distancing Possibly the biggest change that has taken place due to the coronavirus is social distancing. Social distancing means that we have to always stay at a safe distance from others. This means that even if physical classes are taking place it isn’t the way it was before. And to respect social distancing rules classes have been divided into more sections. Staying 3 feet away from someone is the hardest change to adapt to.

These are the biggest changes brought to our school life due to the pandemic. Some of these changes take time getting used to. But it’s quite fun when you get used to it. Maybe we can learn from this pandemic and take away good hygienic habits that can be implemented in schools even after we hopefully conquer this pandemic.
