World Teacher's Day Celebrations 2020

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on October 5 every year. Every year Maradhoo School puts its best foot forward to celebrate this occasion to felicitate the teachers and educators who play the most significant part in the functioning of this institution. And it leaves no stone unturned. Despite of the pandemic and the tough times that we are currently facing, we celebrated and acknowledged the gratitude, the love and the overbearing honour of having a team of educators who selflessly go above and beyond in catering the upcoming generation.

It was a warm cloudy morning and the PTA of our School had arranged coffee for all the staff along with a token of appreciation to express their gratitude to the teaching community at Maradhoo School.

Our Principal Mr. Abdul Latheef Ali shared a few words of wisdom which stayed with all the teachers and will resonate with them in the future as well. He also gave away the presents to all the teachers. One of the most surprising segment of the event was the distribution of three special awards to the staff who had provided exceptional service and made the whole organisation proud.

The first special award was given to our Mathematics teacher Mr. Abdul Rahmaan Hussain who had not taken even a single day of sick leave for not one or two but for four consecutive years. the award was to appreciate his dedication and service.

The next special award was given to Ms. Aishath Sama, who became the first woman in Maldives to become a certified and listed Google Trainer. And she was also the first person in the entire Addu City to achieve this feat. she indeed made the organisation proud.

The third and final special award was given to the health assistant Ms. Aminath Hamsa, who with her sheer passion has been an integral part in the effective working of our organisation post lock-down.

After the meeting the students came to school for a very short time, in order to be able to convey their wishes to their beloved teachers. The whole atmosphere at school was euphoric. It was like for a few hours everyone forgot of all the worries and sorrows that the current happenings have brought. It was all in the spirit of celebrating teachers. And it was done rightly so.
