World Water Day 2022

Every year World Water Day is celebrated on 22nd March as a way of bringing attention to the value of freshwater and to encourage the sustainable use of freshwater resources. This year's theme is "Groundwater – Making the Invisible Visible". Today, we celebrated World Water Day with a special assembly. Students made posters regarding the same to create initiative and awareness.

This day is a chance to learn more about problems related to water, to be encouraged to tell others, and to take action to make a difference. A fundamental building block of life is water. Quenching thirst or maintaining health is more than just essential; water is crucial for job creation and for fostering economic, social, and human growth.

This year focuses on groundwater because groundwater is absolutely essential for humanity. Around 2.5 billion people depend directly on groundwater to fulfill their basic daily needs. However, factors like septic systems, solid wastes, fossil fuels, agricultural chemicals are contaminating the groundwater and in many countries, it is getting depleted.

Though we use it every day, just because we can't see groundwater doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Let us take the necessary steps to prevent this. We should create awareness and take actions that will help us overcome this. Because we certainly don't want to live in a world where water becomes a commodity that only the privileged can have access to.
