World Autism Awareness Month 2022

Every year in April, World Autism Awareness Month is observed to help people understand and accept individuals with autism, build global support, and inspire others. It's a day dedicated to spreading kindness and raising autism awareness. 'Inclusive Quality Education for All' is the theme of the Autism Awareness Program in 2022.

After the recitation of the Holy Quran, our Leading Teacher Aishath Labeega Miss addressed the gathering with a special speech on Autism and its relevance, as well as highlighting the school's accomplishments in many areas. In her amazing speech, she offered her thoughts on creative thinking, preparing engaging activities for all the children, and the simpler ways of being inclusive to everyone. She applauded our school's administration, our Principal, and teachers for encouraging kids to participate in the learning process. She laid emphasis on the overall progress of students’ participation. Her illuminating and inspiring speech was in both Dhivehi and English.

This was followed by a rendition of The Vintage Taan's Anthem for Autism by Anhaaru Saudhulla and Anwaar Saudhulla of Grade 9A. The lyrics of the song are as follows,

"Dreams full of passion, hiding in me
Shining in my eyes, if only you could see
A little different, amazing you’ll see
Stubbornly beautiful my life and me

Does anybody feel the way I feel?
It’s you, it’s her, it’s him or just me
I can't really express what I feel
I don't heed to right or wrong for me

Precious as a diamond
Raw one maybe
The way I see how you are ain’t no difference in me
At times you excel at places it’s me
Uniquely awesome, an ordinary me

Does anybody feel the way I feel?
It’s you, it’s her, it’s him or just me
I can’t really express what I feel
I don't heed to right or wrong for me

Hide and seek in the open come play with me
Hiding in a corner don't, don’t lose me
Let’s tell the world aloud about my story
Incredible, I’m special it’s the angel in me

Dreams full of passion, hiding in me
Shining in my eyes if only you could see
A little different, amazing you’ll see
Stubbornly beautiful my life and me

Does anybody feel the way I feel?
It’s you, it’s her, it’s him or just me
I can’t really express what I feel
I don’t heed to right or wrong for me"

After this performance as part of the celebration, an activity was held for the students and the staff where they wrote messages about autism awareness on a paper in the shape of a balloon. These papers were then displayed on the stage wall. Thus ended one of the most important days in our current school year.
